Convocation of the World General Assembly of the World

Confederation of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco

Dear Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco,

The Presidency of the World Confederation of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco is pleased to announce the convocation of the World General Assembly, which will be held in our place of origin, Valdocco, Turin, Italy, from 2 to 5 December 2027.

This gathering represents an important moment for our World Confederation as delegates from around the world come together to strengthen our communion, reflect on our mission, and discern the path forward for the global movement of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco.

The theme chosen for this World General Assembly is:

An Education, A Mission

With Don Bosco, Working for the Young, Families and Society

This theme invites us to rediscover the educational and pastoral vision that Don Bosco entrusted to the Salesian Family. In 2027, the entire Salesian Family will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Don Bosco’s writings on the Preventive System, a milestone that continues to inspire educators and all those committed to the service of young people.

The Preventive System, founded on Reason, Religion and Loving-Kindness, remains as relevant today as it was in Don Bosco’s time. It reminds us that education is not merely to succeed in a career but a mission—a vocation that seeks the integral development of young people, supports families, and contributes to the building of a more just and caring society. As Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco, we are called to bring this educational heritage into the realities of the twenty-first century and to continue being active witnesses of Don Bosco’s charism in our communities.

The World General Assembly will provide an opportunity for delegates to strengthen the bonds of fraternity that unite us across regions, to evaluate the journey of our Confederation, and to discern together the priorities and commitments that will guide our movement in the years ahead.

Among the important tasks entrusted to this World General Assembly will be the election of the members of the Presidency of the World Confederation, who will be called to serve the movement during the forthcoming term of office. Furthermore, to foster the widest possible participation, arrangements will be made for delegates who are unable to travel to Turin to take part in the proceedings through online participation.

We eagerly await your presence in Valdocco, where the dream of Don Bosco took shape and where generations of Alumni and Friends of Don Bosco have drawn inspiration for their mission. Your participation and experience will enrich our reflections and help us continue to serve faithfully the young, families, and society.

Let us come together as one family, united in gratitude for the gift of education from Don Bosco and renewed in our commitment to carry his educational and spiritual legacy into the future.
