In the silence between bombings, children in war-torn regions like Gaza, Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, Haiti, and Myanmar dream of playgrounds and schools instead of bomb shelters. These children witness the horrors of war before understanding its meaning, experiencing loss and trauma.
They face unimaginable realities: searching for loved ones in rubble, sleeping in bomb shelters, fleeing across dangerous landscapes. Yet, amidst the darkness, their resilience shines. They draw pictures of peace, play games in the ruins, and still manage to smile despite the pain in their eyes.
To these children, we say: Your pain is not invisible. Your dreams matter. Every laugh stifled, every tear shed, every childhood memory marred by war is a stark reminder of our collective failure to protect you.
To world leaders, we say: Look into the eyes of these children. See the future you are destroying and the peace you must build. Peace is not just the absence of war; it is the presence of justice, opportunity, and a true childhood – a world where laughter replaces gunfire, school bells ring instead of sirens, and children play freely instead of fighting for survival.
Let us stand in solidarity with these children, carrying their hope for peace as our guiding mission.
